Green Room
–
The play follows three young, hopeful actors hired as extras on an American feature film shooting in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Given a speaking role, a costume (including a drunken Power-Ranger) and their own green room, their excitement quickly devolves into boredom, leading to erratic acts of jealousy, betrayal and vengeance that threaten the film's production.
Directed by Peter Feeney, the genre-bending comedic piece blends wit, slapstick and pathos with puppeteering, and features an irate American. This production was directly inspired by the actors' real-life experience working on the Western/martial arts feature film, The Warrior's Way, and was intended to be remounted in Los Angeles coinciding with the movie's release.
