That gap between execution and intent

Imagined by the Two-Fold Graphic Design Collective (Anzac Tasker and Cassidy Dodge, AUT Honours students), this project aimed to challenge conventional design exhibitions by prioritising the process and methods of critical thinking—dubbed "hunch-play and shift"—rather than honed design solutions. On display were print-based, photographic and small-scale installation works that emphasised the improvised, accidental, salvaged and handmade over the sleek and sophisticated.

Cross St Studios was specifically chosen by the collective because its physical rawness removed notions of "pretentiousness or affectation," providing a flexible and congruous space that actively encouraged public interaction and dialogue among students, professionals and educators.
