SQUARES
–
SQUARES was an exhibition of new paintings by Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland-based artist Angus Kerr which explored a visual language loosely based on "the grid," where each painted square was given varying volume from its neighbour. Making use of a strong, directional light source that cast shadows over the forms, Kerr created depth of space within the picture plane, utilising this dramatic shadow play to explore ideas of colour, light and pictorial dynamics.
