Grindhouse Poster Art Competition
–
For one week, Cross St Studios hosted the Grindhouse Poster Art Competition exhibition—a collaboration between the MGM Channel and local Groove Guide magazine—that invited artists to capture the raw, exploitation aesthetic of the Grindhouse film genre, which had been recently popularised by the cult 2007 double-feature by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino.
This event was hugely popular among film fans and saw a subsequent follow-up competition staged in 2009 at Plaything Gallery in Newton, judged by film critic Ant Timpson and broadcaster Matt Heath (Back of the Y).
