Metonymy
Metonymy was an interdisciplinary visual and literary arts project initiated in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland in 2008 by poets and artists Hannah May Thompson, Makyla Curtis, Christian Jensen and Renee Liang. The inaugural iteration fostered "creative match-making," uniting 70 participants over six weeks to form new collaborative connections across disciplines; the project culminating in an exhibition at Cross St Studios, featuring selected works chosen by a panel that included John Pule, Evan Woodruffe, CK Stead, Genevieve McClean and Simona Albanese.
On 21 May 2008, the exhibition was supported by a dedicated performance night hosted by Renee Liang and Christian Jensen, which featured spoken word, music, video collaborations and book launches. Both the exhibition and performance night were presented as fringe events of the Auckland Writer’s and Reader’s Festival.
