Newton Gully Screen Society 5
For the second-to-last film of its Autumn season, the Newton Gully Screen Society presented John Cameron Mitchell’s cult musical film, Hedwig and the Angry Inch (2001), a story about a genderqueer rock singer from East Germany. The screening was accompanied by "other musical delights" to create a celebratory atmosphere.
The Newton Gully Screen Society offered a free film screening series, generally presented fortnightly on Sundays in the gallery space, running from April to June 2008. These screenings continued the experimental film programming established by the Cinema Obscura events curated by Sean Monro throughout 2007, maintaining a focus on obscure and challenging cinematic experiences outside the mainstream.
