Shifting City Sound Plains
A SOUNZ Community Commission, the Shifting City Sound Plains project brought together a collective of sound artists and musicians for a week-long field recording workshop focused on Auckland's urban acoustic environment.
This concert was the culmination of their work, featuring a 30-minute improvised Musique Concrete performance in a surround sound system. The event also included a premiere quartet performance by Phil Dadson, James McCarthy, Sam Morrison and Clinton Philips, as well as an electro-acoustic performance by Dion Workman, an artist who had recently returned to Aotearoa after living in New York for a decade.
Shifting City Sound Plains was presented as part of Cheese on Toast's 5th birthday celebrations.
